Star Bots is a Lego Robotics Club for students in grades 5-8. We participate in challenges hosted by Adventist Robotics, in partnership with FIRST LEGO League, and recognize the importance of STEM educational programs in schools.
Teamwork and critical thinking helps our club members as they research a real-world problem and use creativity to solve that problem. They create an innovation project and practice their presentation skills by presenting their solutions in an engaging way. They design, build, and program a robot using LEGO SPIKE PRIME® to complete missions on a table-top playing field to earn points at competitions for successfully completed missions. Club members practice Gracious Professionalism® and Coopertit
WAA has had a Lego Robotics team since the 2011-12 school year and entered our first Challenge in the spring of 2012. Our Star Bots have competed in annual reginal competitions hosted in Ohio, Michigan, and Tennessee. Four robotics seasons (2015, 2018, 2019 & 2022) have ended with an invitation to participate at the National Adventist Lego Robotics Challenge, hosted in California or Florida. These opportunities for travel and enrichment have instilled vital life-skills, built enduring friendships, and created lasting memories for both the students and their coaches.
